Ridge Stone Church on Hannity and Colmes

Gary Lamb did it again. Unbelievable.

I saw this last week. I think this may just be one of the funniest things I have ever seen in my life. It is also one of the most viewed videos ever put on youtube.com! I hope we can learn how pull this kind of creativity off this well.

This video with all of its suggestive butt shaking (see the YouTube version) was absolutely appalling.

To think that the church of the Lord Jesus Christ has come to this is beyond belief! It is time to weep over the condition of the church.

WOW...I am surprised by the comments below. I love people who throw out their these type of statements.

Ridge Stone Church is reaching the lost more than any church I have ever been a part of or ever seen in my life. When I left RSC we were almost 80% unchurched/dechurched.

I will put that percentage up against any church in America. Last time I checked that's what God called the church to do...actually reach the lost instead of just tending to and stroking the ones who have been sitting there doing nothing for years!

I am sorry that RSC can not be like more of the churches in America who are scared to take a few risks...at the cost of offending a few Christians...to reach those that are truly lost...just another example of why so many of our churches today are dead and dying and why so many pastors have lost touch with who God called the church to reach!

It is time to weep of the condition of the dead, dying, and stale churches of America...they do far more damage than good!

I want to make it clear to my readers that this was not a negative post concerning Ridge Stone Church. The big idea behind the post is my amazement at the buzz factor of the video, getting major press time through CNN and Fox News. I would love to know how the video went from being known in and around Canton to making national news.

I recognize that my blog audience represents a dichotomy of opinion regarding methodology of doing church, and I respect the individuals in both camps. Regarding the video, while I probably wouldn't do a rap video (that's Jason's department), I believe that Ridge Stone has the liberty to do what they think is necessary to reach their community with the good news.

Wow, Russ, this may attract some attention in our blogsphere! I would like to add that I probably wouldn't go with a rap for myself either. It would be horrible. In fact, I think it would be banned from the internet. I have to say, however, that I like this video, because it shows how we can be creative in creating "buzz". This is not to say that we should all stand before a camera and "shake" our butts. These guys only wanted to let people in Canton know they were changing the times of their service from the normal evening time to the morning on Christmas Eve. They had no idea that they would receive national response. If you listen close to the words at the end, they knew that preachers would criticize them from their pulpits; but, they were definitely not anticipating this!

I also don't think they were trying to be "spiritual" by producing this video. It was not meant to be used as a deep reflective moment. It was meant to be funny and make their new time stick in the minds of people. They did it. In fact, thousands of people all over the country now know when RSC will begin their Crhistmas Eve service! Now that is a better retention rate of any announcement I have ever made in any church I have ever been a part of!
